Trees

If we were all trees in a forest, I'd want to be growing next to you.
We'd wrap our gnarled root fingers around each others, and be growing and growing it's true.
I'd be the oak you'd be the cedar, so very different you know,
but still we could be together, as we grow and grow and grow.
I know there would still be struggles, with inventions like the saw and axe
But we would hold onto each other and our struggles would eventually pass.
Sometimes we'll lean on each other, as the storms they do blow through
And as the sun dares to show its face, we'll dare to stand up too.
Sometimes giants like my grandmother, will find that it is time
To lie down in the soft green arms, the soft green arms of God
Then saplings like my cousin, up from the ground they'd burst
Not like they're a replacement, but reminders of what came first
Life as a tree can be so deceiving, seems like we never move,
But really we're always growing, always reaching for the truth.
And soon our heads are up in the clouds, as we grow from mountain tops
We see our planet all around us, and it seems impossible
Let us grow together, let us grow together, let us grow together, let us grow together....

I was thinking just the other day, how things were different in '58
Been doing the math right here on my left hand
And honey I could buy you wine, we could have a lovely life
With just a few dollars and a decent financial plan
I'd just need one, two, three, four, five dollars in '64
I'd need six, seven, maybe eight, nine hours with you
Oh my darling honey buns you know that for me you're the only one
I just need a few dollars and a few more hours with you
I'd use one dollar for three gallons of gas, and another one for a pack of cigarettes,
Dollars three and four would buy a nice dinner for two
And with dollar number five we'd invest in our dream life, who knew that
One green Lincoln could take two people this far
I'd just need one, two, three, four, five dollars in '64
I'd need six, seven, maybe eight, nine hours with you
Oh my darling sweetie pie I'm sure I could happily get by
With just a few dollars and a few more hours with you
I'd just need one, two, three, four, five dollars in '64
I'd need six, seven, maybe eight, nine hours with you
Oh my darling honey buns you know that for me you're the only one
I just need a few dollars and a few more hours with you
I'd just need one, two, three, four, five dollars in '64
I'd need six, seven, maybe eight, nine hours with you
Oh my darling sweetie pie I'm sure I could happily get by
With just a few dollars and a few more hours with you
With just a few dollars and a few more hours with you
With just a few dollars and a few more hours with you

All My Friends

Oh my friend wont you stay with me
Because I've been dealing with a certain grief
And there's a piece that I just can't muster
But I think that I can trust ya
Been getting torn apart by the vacancy
I need someone to be here with me
Like a sister or a brother or a preacher or a lover
My mind's been a bad friend so I need another
But when I am with you, I think that I start to do better
And yes I'm a man in need, and does that make me, a friend in deed
If you've seen me at my worst and stuck around
I think it's time I took you downtown
To buy you a drink and hear about your life
But really what I need is to tell you about mine
'Cause when I am with you, I think that I start to do better
And yes I'm a man in need, and does that make me, a friend in deed
And all my friends wont you stay with me
You're the people that I want, the people that I need
I've been cursed by mind but I'm blessed by my friends
I want to stay with you until the whole world ends
'Cause when I am with you, I think that I start to do better
And yes I'm a man in need, and does that make me, a friend in deed
Please don't go, I'll eat you up I love you so
Please don't go, I'll eat you up I love you so
Please don't go, I'll eat you up I love you so
Please don't go, I'll eat you up I love you so

Aurora, Aurora my dear your name means that you are beautiful
Aurora, Aurora my dear now all that you do, is cling to all of my vices
Aurora, Aurora my dear won't you please, please, please, put back on your clothes
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
Aurora, Aurora my dear you don't have to keep on staying in roach infested motels
Aurora, Aurora my dear you can't blame your self, for all those people jumping
Aurora, Aurora my dear the view from your bridge, oh my what a site
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
The sun will rise on you, there is hope for you
The sun will rise on you, there is hope for you
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
Aurora my dear you're so far from irreparable
Aurora my dear won't you life your musky head
